About JAMBO
Inspired by early R&B and Soul legends of the '60s and '70s, Jambo is a versatile band that performs songs from the 60's to current trend, from Latin and African dance music to Bollywood hits.
Our Profile
JAMBO was established in 1982 in Vancouver, BC.
The members of the band all originate from Kenya. During the 1986 Expo in Vancouver, JAMBO established itself when they were invited to perform at the Kenya Pavilion. The band drew a lot of attention and ended up playing there for the entire duration of the Expo.
Although we are known as an African band (all our African songs are sung in Swahili) we are versatile to entertain any demographics from Latin Jazz, 60’s and 70’s rock and roll to Waltz, Tango and Bollywood songs.
